Dancing Skeletons Mug
Though not purely in Danse Macabre tradition, I enjoyed pulling several dancing skeletons from different sources and combining them on this pieces. When I was a kid, a frequent Halloween decoration was a two-dimensional nearly-life-sized skeleton made of dense cardboard and articulated with pins at each joint so that one could put the skeleton on a wall or door in any position. The effect usually resembled skeletons that danced.
For me this image is a reminder of the earlier Halloween days when young kids got one night out of the year to run amok through the neighborhood, perhaps making mischief but more likely trying to score as many candy handouts as possible before returning home excited, tired, and breathless.
Dimensions: 4” height x 3.375” diameter, 12-13 ounces
As a handmade mug, dimensions and form vary slight with each one.
